Training with Purpose: Honoring the Sacrifices of Those Before Us
Jerrod Hardy • May 26, 2025

As we observe Memorial Day, we pause to reflect, remember, and honor those who gave everything for our freedom. Their sacrifices were acts of selflessness, discipline, and unwavering commitment—values we can carry forward in our own lives.

For many of us, training isn’t just about physical strength. It’s about mental resilience, pushing limits, and embracing challenges with intention. In many ways, preparing ourselves—whether for competition, personal growth, or life’s daily battles—is a way to honor those before us.

Training with Intention

Every rep, every mile, every challenge we embrace is an opportunity to grow, strengthen, and push forward. When we train with a purpose—knowing that discipline and perseverance were hallmarks of those who served—we connect to something greater than ourselves.

To train with intention means:

Respecting the Process – Honoring the journey, not just the results.

Pushing Beyond Comfort – Strength isn’t found in the easy moments but in overcoming adversity.

Carrying Forward a Legacy – Understanding that preparation and dedication are ways to show gratitude for those who sacrificed for our freedoms.

Reflection and Action

This Memorial Day, take a moment to reflect: Why do you train? What drives you to improve? Channel that energy into something meaningful—whether it’s showing up stronger for your team, committing to a new goal, or simply living with greater gratitude.

Honor the fallen by embracing the values they stood for.

Train with determination, respect, and purpose, and in doing so, carry forward their legacy.
