Showing Up Changes Everything: My Conversation on Beyond the Finish Line

I recently joined Beyond the Finish Line for a conversation that hit on something I believe deeply: showing up matters more than feeling ready. As I train for my first 100‑mile ultramarathon, I’m learning that the endurance mindset isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence, commitment, and choosing to move forward even when doubt shows up first.

Rewriting Limits Through Endurance

My journey has taken me from MMA to law enforcement to long‑distance running, but the common thread has always been growth. On the podcast, we talked about how easy it is to let self‑imposed limits shape what we think is possible. The truth is, most of the barriers we face aren’t physical — they’re the stories we tell ourselves.

Training for a 100‑miler has forced me to practice something simple but uncomfortable: commit before I feel confident. Every long run, every early morning, every moment of resistance is a reminder that progress starts with presence.

Why Showing Up Still Matters

Whether you’re an everyday endurance athlete, signing up for your first race, or returning after a long break, the mindset is the same. You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to show up — consistently, intentionally, and with a willingness to grow.

If You Need a Push Forward

If you’re looking for endurance motivation, mindset tools, or a reminder that it’s not too late to start again, this episode is worth a listen. It’s honest, practical, and rooted in the belief that your story is still unfolding — and you get to decide what comes next.
