Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can be an important tool as we look to improve the quality of coaching and content our law enforcement professionals receive. However, we must also use our experience in both, tactical law enforcement and the sport of BJJ, to evaluate and teach the skills that are tactically sound, fundamentally solid, and legally defensible in our profession. When I began our Ground Tactics Coaches program, this was a drill that would be paramount in bridging the gap between law enforcement techniques and coaching students to believe in themselves in the darkest moments. This would be the way we would replace fear with belief!
